Some general characteristics
Chihuahua dogs, described as the smallest
breed that can be found, are very alert and charming animals. There
are two different types of Chihuahuas, one of them shows short hair
coat while the other one shows long and soft hair, but both of them
share many breed characteristics.
A description
Chihuahua dogs generally are of between
6 and 9 inches of height and weight between 2 and 6 lbs. They can
present a variety of colors, including black, white, light brown,
dark brown, or reddish-brown, among many others, as well as a wide
combination and mixture of them.
One of the most characteristic features
of Chihuahuas is given by their ears. Chihuahua's ears are large and
erect and provide this breed with a very friendly look and an alert
appearance. Whether it is a short hair or a long hair Chihuahua, his
ears would always present these characteristics and provide the animal
with a very characteristic appearance.
Their temper
In general, Chihuahuas share some
characteristics regarding their temper. Chihuahua dogs usually tend
to be very alert, awake and versatile animals. They can easily adjust
to many different situations and always want to protect their family.
This is a very loyal and charming dog breed that can be a great companion.
Other general aspects
Due to their size, Chihuahua dogs
might not be the best choice for playing with children since they
can be fragile and easy to be hurt. On the other hand, this dog breed
is ideal for living in small spaces and would easily adapt to an apartment.
It is also interesting to know that Chihuahuas count with an average
lifetime that usually is longer than other dog breeds, and can be
estimated around the 15 years.
